RICK MAUE LECTURE
There are magic lectures…and there are magical lectures. The former is certainly fun, but the latter can change your life. When Rick Maue lectures, he strives for both. Instead of the typical “here’s a trick… here’s how it’s done… and here’s how much it costs” type of lecture, Rick focuses on how, and why, he spent his life on The Road. He shares stories, lessons learned, and original creations that have been praised all around the globe.
As a touring mentalist, Rick has performed in theaters, at universities, and for high-end corporate events. This past November, he received the MINDvention Lifetime Achievement Award in Las Vegas, an honor Rick shares with a very small and extremely prestigious group of mentalism legends: Bob Cassidy, Richard Osterlind, and Max Maven.
Now retired, Rick will be making a special appearance, and presenting a new lecture, for the Pittsburgh magic community. To be clear, for those who have seen Rick before, his new lecture is not a ton of new routines, but there are a few pieces he has never presented before. However, he calls it a “new” lecture because its purpose and the thoughts behind it are very fresh.
The material will range from stage routines to impromptu miracles. Most importantly, none of the effects will require expensive gimmicks or props—but instead, just everyday items such as envelopes, poker chips, paper, playing cards, etc…
To make the point that no special gimmicks are needed to perform Rick’s creations, think about this: After seeing him work in Las Vegas, Michael Weber created Rick’s nickname when he began calling him “OfficeMax Maven”.
Plus, all of the material in the lecture will be what Rick refers to as VdM Magic—which means all of it will be so technically easy that the Venus de Milo could perform it. In other words, everything will be within the technical reach of every performer in the room.
So, don’t miss your chance to see why Rick’s work has been praised by so many great performers, such as Banachek, Joshua Jay, Simon Lovell, Kostya Kimlat, Francis Menotti, Docc Hilford, Penn Jillette, Jon Stetson, David London, George Tait, Sal Piacente, Denny Haney, Bob Sheets, Paul Vigil, and many more.
